Psychological Treatment

Integrating treatment, consulting, education and technology for better mental health outcomes.

Psychological services for workers across Western Australia

Delivered within the context of Workers’ Compensation, injury management and motor vehicle schemes, Working Life’s psychological services provide support for a wide range of issues.

Our psychologists have a minimum of 10 years of experience in these schemes and understand workplace mental health issues across various industries, including oil and gas, remote FIFO sites, underground mining, government, construction, fabrication and commercial sectors.

We have a thorough understanding of the role psychosocial factors play in the recovery process and are committed to helping your employees navigate their challenges.

Workers’ psychological support services

Our psychologists specialise in:

  • Evidence-based treatments for acute stress, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex PTSD

  • Anxiety conditions including generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder and social anxiety

  • Depressive disorders

  • Comprehensive management and treatment of work-related stress, harassment and bullying issues

  • Targeted interventions with a focus on return-to-work outcomes within the context of compensable schemes

  • Adjustment to injury counselling to support individuals experiencing significant life changes and/or stressors, particularly within the context of work-related illness or injury

Treatment and rehabilitation

With a comprehensive understanding of psychological treatment and adjustment to injury counselling, our team takes a tailored approach to your employee’s care depending on their unique challenges.

We assess how their symptoms and behaviours are presenting, address specific issues through targeted interventions and complement traditional treatment with innovative, internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT) programs to enhance accessibility and effectiveness.

Referral process for psychological services

The referral process for our psychological services is as follows:

  • An employer, insurer or healthcare provider identifies the need for psychological treatment and initiates a referral to Working Life.

  • A detailed assessment is conducted to understand the individual’s condition with the development of a tailored treatment plan.

  • The individual receives regular psychological treatment sessions, either in person or via telehealth.

  • The treatment plan is continuously monitored and adjusted where necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Where appropriate, Working Life provides timely and directed feedback to the referrer and critical stakeholders.
